Daily Outfit

Today's inspiration is that promo shot of Emma Pillsbury for the back 9 episodes of Glee. It's nice that Glee is back, although after last week's episode I'm hoping that it wont be turning into a soap opera and I was disappointed that they didn't sing "Hello, I Must Be Going" or "Hello Ma Baby".
I was thrifting last week and I came across this Sixties skirt and I didn't realize until then that I needed a turquoise skirt. I don't know what to wear it with apart from my yellow blouse, but it was dead stock and quite inexpensive.
My classes finished on Friday and now I just have a few more papers to write before I'm done for the summer and then one more term and I'll have a degree! But in mean time, it's time for the dreaded summer job hunt.
Does anyone have any requests for Vintage Novel Thursdays during the summer? Or have you just heard that your favourite classic film was based on a forgotten book and aren't sure if you want to read it or not?

Skirt: vintage
Blouse: thrifted
Cardigan: Gap
Tights: Hue
Belt: thrifted
Sweater clip: vintage
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

This is the trailer for the 1977 film Semi-Tough, which is one of my favourites and it gets better after every viewing. Don't worry, it's not about American football and I know less about sports then you. It's a satire about the cult of celebrity, new-age health ideas, the self-help movement and weird semi-spiritual cults and it's amazing to see that nothing has changed in thirty years and you can still see the same "ideas" cluttering up bookstores and taking space away from the art and film books. There's also some great examples of late Seventies clothing and some interesting ideas for applique. And it has a soundtrack by Gene Autry.

What a cheerfully vibrant outfit! I think it's nearly impossible to look at turquoise and not feel your mood lift.

I love that splashy colour - evocative as it is of tropical seas and gorgeous South Western jewelry - and have a few turquoise (and teal) pieces in my wardrobe, too. I find that they often pair well with shades of grey, brown (especially a lush milk chocolate shade), brick or coral red, denim blue, cream/ivory, and light to medium pinks.

Wishing you a day every bit as beautiful as you are, honey!
